Fulbright Journey

"We must dare to think 'unthinkable' thoughts. We must learn to explore all the options and possibilities that confront us in a complex and rapidly changing world."
- William J Fulbright

If not for William J Fulbright's great vision, not many young students like me would have gotten once in a life time opportunity called "The Fulbright Experience". While applying for this scholarship, little did I knew  that a fantastic and an enriching adventure was waiting for me ahead. And the journey just began.. In this page, I will be sharing my experiences as a Fulbright Nehru Research Scholar in the United States of America.  So much to come.. Keep watching this section....

Shifting Rhythms, Changing Selves

Is this a permanent shift or just a passing phase? Why am I growing out of things—choreographies, friendships—I once loved? Or at least, things I pursued with such sincerity and discipline? Once you lose faith, it's incredibly hard to put up the "performance." At least for me, when it comes to friendships or situations, I’m quite clear—almost blunt—about stepping away when needed. Or I know it is a phase and I can always find my way back. I also don't force any relationship to stay (now); it takes its own course either to blossom or fade away. But with dance, it's different. Items that once won me accolades… choreographies I invested time, money, and heart into—I now struggle to reuse them. The excitement is missing. And yet, I can't simply discard them. I’m trying to re-choreograph, retry, reimagine. But it’s mentally exhausting. Is this confusion due to a lack of clarity? Or is it growth? Growth in awareness, in taste, in sensibility? When I ChatGPT-ed the...

The Palace of Illusions - Beyond The Storyline

“The Palace of Illusions” has been popping up on the feed of my good reads since a very long time. For my disinterest to read a fiction I did not choose to read it for quite a long time but we never know when and why we choose to read a particular book :) Finally I downloaded it and started reading two months ago in bits and pieces. I was fascinated to see the imaginary yet relatable perspective of Draupadi on the story of the great timeless epic Mahabharata.            While the story of the epic remains the same, the author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni gives a gripping narration of the story of Mahabharata through the character Draupadi herself. The book sets us on a journey from the superficial understanding to the deepest, darkest thoughts of Draupadi . Draupadi , who is considered as the most powerful, chaste, pure character of the epic Mahabharata, gives a detailed narration of her most vulnerable feelings. In the novel, she as...

If You Don’t Heal What Hurt You, You’ll Bleed on People Who Didn’t Cut You

"If You Don’t Heal What Hurt You, You’ll Bleed on People Who Didn’t Cut You."                                                                                                                            -Unknown                All the ruckus in the world is a result of not loving ourselves enough and not healing ourselves from what broke us. Anger, greed, jealousy, insecurity, lust, power are the emotions that we spill on others to meet our own shortcomings. This is because most of us run away from our emotions like grief, jealousy, insecurity and the like. We think that by running away, we can get rid of ...
